“Tes has the ability in all facets of the profession to lead Lady Jaguar basketball to new heights,” Mr. Bryant says. “She is an outstanding motivator who will not only bring distinction to the team but to our athletic department and Augusta State University as well.”

The former head coach of Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich., Ms. Sobomehin spent three seasons at the helm of the Lady Hornets’ program. Known as Coach Sobo, she tutored five all-conference selections while her squad posted an average team GPA of 3.23 and had five players named to the Dean’s List. In addition to her coaching duties, she served as an instructor in sports psychology and physical education classes.

Prior to Kalamazoo, Ms. Sobomehin spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio. She also served as Resident Director in the Department of Residential Education and as an instructor in Oberlin’s Department of Health and Physical Education.

Ms. Sobomehin earned her bachelor’s in education and master’s in teaching from the University of Virginia in August 2000. She served as head manager for the Cavalier women’s basketball team while also playing for the university’s club basketball team. Ms. Sobomehin graduated from Gary, Ind., West Side High School, earning Northwest Indiana All-Star honors her senior year.

In addition to her collegiate and high school experience, Ms. Sobomehin worked as a community relations intern with the Detroit Shock of the WNBA. She also founded the CHALLENGE Premier Youth Girl’s Basketball Skills Clinics in Woodbridge, Va. She has been a staff member at numerous summer camps, including those at Tennessee, Duke, Georgia Tech, Boston College, Virginia Commonwealth, Notre Dame, Wooster, Central Michigan, and Virginia.

Coach Sobomehin was one of 25 coaches selected to participate in the 2006 NCAA Women Coaches Academy in Indianapolis. The academy offered a week of classes, seminars, and training on various aspects of coaching and career development. In 2007, she completed the NCAA Women Coaches Academy Dimension 2. Coach Sobomehin is also a 2007 graduate of the Black Coaches Association A.C.E. Program. The A.C.E.
